Sun, 7 July - Three Island Lake and the Sierra Madre

Took the Three Island Lake Alternate which is claimed to be more scenic - ran along a pretty ridge then followed a stream from the lake with many small waterfalls.  Met several groups of horse riders out for the day.  

Came to detour sign advising hikers to take a road to avoid a bridge that was out.  Of course I didn't take it and forded the river.  Who needs bridges? 

The afternoon section was on multiuse trails and had a few ATVs and dirt bikes but was in good shape and was a pleasant hike.  Last day in Colorado.  Camping just under six miles from the border.
