Sat, 29 June - The Rocky Mountains and Andrews Glacier

Traversed the Rocky Mountains West to East and got to peek down into the flat lands of Colorado all the way to Kansas today.  Got a permit for the boulder field on Longs Peak, highest point in the Rocky Mountain Park.  Rented a bear canister and talked "Cherry Picker" into joining me on a hike from Grand Lake, up the CDT RMNP portion of the loop that is still open around the fire, then up and over Andrews Pass and down the Andrews Glacier to meet up with a trail to Longs Peak!  Very cool.  A warning sign at the glacier tells you to watch for crevices.  Had a fun glissade down the glacier and made it lower on the ridge before the hail, rain, and thunder and lightning hit.

Oh, and we also saw a mother and kid moose on the beginning of today's hike.  Camping in the boulder field and the weather is clearing.  We are well positioned to summit Longs Peak in the morning.
