Sun, 4Aug - Straddling the ID/MT State Borders

Today was mostly all along the ID/MT border with rolling hills of green, meadows alternating with trees and forests, and lots of short ups and downs.  Actually it was very nice despite the trail being a little overgrown and some sections of blowdowns.  And ripe Huckleberries and red caps are starting!

Only tough spot was at an unsigned turn in a burned out meadow where there were many faded animal paths and no clear tread.  I had heard many hikers had to use their GPS here but that was not an option for me.  I probably overshoot the turn by a quarter mile, then ran a compass bearing and bushwhacked a half mile or more to finally pick up the trail again but it worked out well enough.

Toward the end of the day the trail got more wooded and the shade was welcome.  Then several miles of walking the rolling open ridge-line alongside a picturesque line of fence posts and over Little Table Mountain.  Finally an easy walk down some dirt roads with a nice sunset.  Camping near route 15 where I found a bear locker and will head into Lima in the morning.
