From Dumont Lake to Buffalo Pass was a muddy multiuse trail that passed many lakes and vernal ponds. Had a big rain and lightning storm overnight that left the trail very wet with lots of mosquitoes. Saw lots of mountain bikes, ATVs and dirt bikes on this section. Not my favorite but after Buffalo Pass was fantastic!
Met up with Track and Field in the Zirkel Wilderness; a fantastic open playground of grassy alpine meadows, rocky ridgelines and fantastic views. Camped after crossing the top of Lost Ranger Peak and dropping into a saddle. A huge thunder storm with heavy rain came through at night which was a bit scary.
